Liverpool Airport Shot from the top of Frodsham Hill an hour ago, in the forlorn hope of seeing some interesting weather...

Had a flurry of sleet up there, wind gusting at about 25 knots, moderate rain and mist. Lovely summers day...not!

I find it hardly likely for sleet, hail yes but sleet with the T and Td values even in the middle of a storm, Td shows no lower than 8-9C anywhere in that area?

For info on the trough and storm associated with it in this area from 1350 until about 1425 see my web page and weather station and the reports I gave on the storms today.

oops just noticed my wind direction is 180 degrees out, it was correct when the mast was re hoisted some days ago-umm!

That's what I thought, it didn't seem "heavy" or hard enough for hail though. It wasn't like a classic sleet shower, is it possible to get something that lies between the two? It felt cold up there in that wind!

I honestly don't know C, it is fairly unlikely at this time of year to get sleet and very unlikely without the dewpoint being no higher than 4 or 5C I would have thought but you were the one there so I must respect what you reported even though I did challenge it in my earlier post.

No disrespect intended

Lol, none taken. It only lasted for less than 15 seconds, and I was just surprised as I've never seen sleet or "wintry" rain in June round here. It was almost like a soft form of hail if that makes sense, but lighter than hail (ie: it was caught up in the gust of wind rather than falling straight to ground). The hill is about 450ft ASL so not that high really. Anyway, it was miserable up there so I came home!

A mostly dull and damp day with only the odd sunny spell and a blustery westerly.

Currently only 12.6c which is pathetic for a June afternoon and unfortunately very reminicent of June 2012.

Aren't you blessed? I've been watching the radar on and off throughout the day as a huge area of rain homed in on my neck of the woods. It was within spitting distance before parting like the Red Sea and missing me completely. Absolutely incredible, couldn't believe it. Now it's sunny....again. What a joke.
