Enjoying the day but not the weather, it's that worst kind of summers day where it's not cold but not warm, spots of rain on and off and lots of cloud. Won't mention the wind as that would just be moaning lol Posted Image

As far as I'm aware moaning has not been banned in this thread......... yet !!

It really is quite grim out there isn't it ?  Ignoring the fact the sun hasn't shown it's face all day here and ignoring the fact there has been a train of showers more or less all day, it's that pesky wind that is getting on my nerves. It's been gusting anywhere between 29-37mph every hour since 11am here.

Now if I was down on the coast I might appreciate that to an extent, watching the waves crashing onto the beach, but 60 miles inland is a different story altogether. Even during that very pleasant and sunny spell earlier this month, the wind was a constant feature here.

My apologies folks.....before hitting 'post' I realise just how grumpy I sound. Time to change the record. Have a great weekend all. Posted ImagePosted Image

Well not many showers made it over this way, if any!

Some sadness today, on the final day of the Royal Ascot meeting, after Henry Cecils widow, Lady Jane, trained her 2nd winner at the meeting, only for the poor horse to collapse and die from a heart attack, after winning the 3.05 race.

Triumph and tragedy, all in a couple of minutes, heartbreaking for all the stable staff and connections.

R.I.P. Thomas Chippendale, he'll be back upstairs with Sir Henry now, bless them.

From a racing calendar pov, the year seems to be whizzing by, next big festival will be Glorious Goodwood, at the end of July.

Hope you've all had a lovely day.

Regards,

Tom.

Tonight is the Supermoon.......

post-10773-0-30253800-1371928622_thumb.j

The Supermoon is when the moon is closer to the Earth on orbit, resulting in a bigger and brighter moon than usual so if it’s clear go outside and view the Supermoon tonight Posted Image

It's a shame it had to fall in June when we have the shortest nights

It's going to fall....Posted Image

I thought the moon was staying up in the sky  Posted Image

...it could be a trigger for some tidal waves, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes though.....

Would love to but it's the day before we have to be up at 4am to get a v early flight to Greece and I suspect that if I turned up to the pub I would end up on a storm/fog/hail/anything weather related chase across the flatlands of England and i could as a result miss the holiday and probably as a result be in a certain level of (what I liike to call) trouble.

It's also the day before my xx birthday!

Well there's no way of hiding it, I ask, I preyed that today of all days it would be nice, dry and warm, looking out the window it the opposite, well if there's a god, Buddha of what ever you will face the wreath of my wife, like you did 35 years ago (tomorrow to be fair, but got a lot work on and won't have time to moan :-)) when you produced similar weather for our special day, a day identical to this, cold wind with showers. Did you ruin the day, well the photos yes, was it an omen for a 35 years of warfare, sorry marriage, in some ways yes, dull perhaps until the kids left home and the house became ours again, wet not many tears a few tears of sorry but also tears of happiness, windy well she did her a curry last night. It ain't been that bad.

Off shortly to freeze our knackers off for a BBQ to celebrate / commiserate what happened all those many years ago, too remember long lost loved ones, and meet with young ones that ain't anymore, plus kids and grand kids that where just tinkles in there grand parents eyes. Where has the time gone.

Well that's a bugger, just as I pressed send, there's a Big Bang from the toilet and there's Marion flat on her stomach, she's passed out whilst on the loo, hit her head on the door frame, cut her eyebrow open and hit her chin, so it now looks like she gone 10 rounds with Henry Cooper, think she won. So BBQ is now on but without us. Looks like she got a stomach upset and a few bruises but I think she'll be ok, teach me to take the mick.

Fantastic forecast, and points to a better progressive move weather wise than being touted just a few weeks ago.

Morning!

A definitely brighter start to the day then previous days and the wind has calmed down a bit after yesterdays hoolie, which almost blew away the beer marquee!
