I've been taking this CU potential chart for 18.00 hrs as a rough guide to where things might develop tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday is another matter

Afternoon all, after a cloudy start to the day the cloud quickly burnt off leading to temperatures rocketing, currently 32C. Hopefully it will all go bang later!

just hope the tarmac on the M25 holds up!

I wish it would melt and fill the potholes in Sussex!

G'day everyone Posted Image

I can't believe I missed out on the storm this morning, maybe a bit far away but I am guessing I still would have heard it.

Same here Mesoscale. I'm about 4-5 miles south of Watford and didn't see or hear a thing. It seems to have skirted just to the east of us but according to the various reports I've read it was a little cracker !!

Through most of this spell the peak temperature here has been reached between 5 & 6 pm on a good many days so with Heathrow currently 33.1c it will almost certainly go higher, unless it clouds over or there is a storm in the vicinity. For no apparent reason I am not so confident about the storm prospects here now as I have been.

Just come down the A2 from Rochester to Dartford, temperature a steady 32.5c, spoken to engineers and how can I put it, they are not happy, at all, some of their language could be described as industrial, tried to cool (see I can do fridge jokes :-)) the situation by suggesting I would buy the ice cream and was told by one that I won't have to as it was running out the door, think that might be an oops?

Just nudging the 30C here, humidity relatively low at 55%, nice onshore breeze though which is helping Posted Image

Interesting - I was in Norwich around lunchtime and crossing Millennium Plain towards the Forum felt like being in an oven.

Is anyone else having trouble with flying ants? Im sitting in the garden right now and I've never seen so many. They are everywhere and keep landing on me! Also it just turned a little cloudy before - but the sun is out again, hopefully some storms later...

Yep, not loads of them but a few floating around the office and car park at work.

RGS weather station reading 32.7c at 4pm, humidity still falling and now down to 36% though, which is half what it was at 8am.  I am a bit puzzled by the falling humidity - will this have an impact on storm potential?

The humidity map does reflect where storms are more likely to form I think, not for many of us currently.
