Apparently a few houses in my town were damaged by lightning early this morning according to the latest local bulletin on bbc news.

The storms were within miles of my location...yet they never hit me Posted ImagePosted Image

Oh well, I'm looking hopeful for the MCS to hit me instead Posted Image

Sorry, what MCS? I can't see any multi-cellular systems within reach of Reading.

I am also in the same boat as you, i'm near Guildford and had absolutely zilch from everything.

Damn, my eyes are starting to die again I suppose, but I'm still hopeful :)

Not the best photo, taken from some video footage I recorded last night but it shows how bright the lightning was!

Hello, first post from me. I live in North Wiltshire, near Royal Wootton Bassett. Was reading the previous thread last night when it all started near me (4 miles east of Lyneham). Here are some photos of the storm that passed over Calne at 2210Z. Quite pleased with my first attempts at lightning photos.

Incredible photos!

All that stuff off the NE coast is moving west now so coastal areas should start to see some action soon...

Looks like lightning core will go Far East of here with me getting moderate rain again from this next lot.

Can't believe how dismal the NE'rs are at reporting any storms like - there's one rattling away near Boro and no spotters!  On the other hand I am like a broken record

I reported it above! Newton Aycliffe :)

Only if the low cloud lifts and breaks, sun did appear through the clouds for a few moments but gone cloudy again.

Saw the lightning last night off the coast but due to the low cloud, never saw if it was CC lightning or CG lightning but despite that interesting and unexpected to say the least.

Wow, we had two huge thunderstorms last night, one around 1am the next at 4am.

Almost continual flashing and banging during the storms. A useful amount of rain, but thankfully not flooding.

The lightening was so bright it temporarily took your eyesight and the booms resonated through

your very bones !!

For the first time ever, it made our house alarm ring even though turned off. Once it did ring, the

next two times we rushed to re-set it in time. The radio alarm came on too and the outside security lights.

I could hear the same all over our village, lol.

Enjoyed it, but bit bog-eyed now.

Just heard another distant rumble.

That must have been the distant lightning i could see at around 1am. It was really foggy though so was hard to tell what was going on. Was very eerie!

Heard rumbles around 4am.

Wwoke to mega thunder at 8am. Beauty of a storm just out to sea with frequent CG strikes. No rain. Classic undulations on the cloud base too.

Fantastic stuff!

I saw plenty of C-G lightning this morning with mist and murk and I am right on the coast - can't see that making a difference to be fair?

Sun is trying to come out here now - not rating it's chances as the sky is 98% cloud.

mid-level forcing going on across Manchester and to my west, influenced by outflow from the cells out across Derby. Unfortunately i'm stuck inbetween either for the time being.

It does seem to have that motion, interesting to see how it handles things as it nears us

You'll probably had a better view than me in fairness but whilst I seen the lightning(and some of it looked quite spectacular), I could not tell whether it was CG/CC lightning.

Could be an interesting day around here hopefully.

Hearing thunder again, real loud booming! I love it !!

Any storm chasers who are awaiting action, keep your eyes on that mothership of a storm between Bordeaux and Cherbourg!!! Absolutely insane thing.
