Looking like we may be getting rain early morning for a good few hours

Not had any here since 3rd July.

Another blue sky day today, max 24c

Although my garden would love some rainwater, the hose has been the saviour.

Just off out now for a light watering, just in case the rain passes.

This little feature could bring some noticeable rainfall for SOME in the South West tonight;

It's forecast to break up into small "clusters" of PPN as it progress's NE, so some big local variances in rainfall accumulations are possible.

Small chance of a few flashes and rumbles off the Cornish coast too.

Yes there's quite a lot of lightning out of this but I expect this to weaken as it moves further north

This highlights the regional variances across our patch well;

Parts of the Forest of Dean and West Gloucestershire could get upto 30mm by the end of tomorrow, whilst Dorset & Hampshire get diddly squat. Small amounts across Bristol & Somerset whilst parts of Devon & Cornwall could get up to 12mm.

Fairly heavy rain here now from the first lot of rain moving in from the west. Will be interesting to see if what is coming up behind it gets electrified.

Come on the rain. Spotlight suggested though that the main thrust of rain would skirt the north coast and head into Wales.

That's what the latest high res model output also suggests too.

I'm not so sure either... Haven't had it at all during this dry spell, and I'm now out of the country, so haven't seen any for just as long as you!! May have been that wet stuff that falls from the clouds? Will need someone to confirm this though ;)

How ironic.. Not so long ago we were looking to find an end in sight of the constant rain.. Oh how fickle we Brits are .... now we are looking to find an end in sight of constant dryness.. I never ever thought I'd see the day where we were radar watching for the wet stuff.... And not snow this time!

It seems like months since it rained here. Even the other night it was only a few drops.

Having moved house last year, I have planted my new garden up this year and I'm getting fed up with constantly watering everything with the watering can. Being on a water meter, I keep thinking how much every can full costs!

Not that I'm tight or anything............Posted Image

Rain finally! Looks like the rain band has come a bit more south not sure how much more east it will get. The band has cleared west Cornwall already so will not be enough to fill the water butts. Mind you the grass can now recover somewhat. So the dry spell is over for here will summer return or can i start dreaming of snow . . . . . I'll get my coat

Rainband is holding together and tracking a little further east than some models suggested;

Some useful rain for a lot of Devon shortly, with the possibility of this extending into Somerset and the Bristol area if it continues to progress NE as it is.

    Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

    The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
