As I can't see the heat being blown away just yet, I'll guess at 17.1C...Can't be worse that this month's epic fail!

My guess is 17.3 degrees. Mild nightime minima will be a common feature of the first half of the month, however, I'm expecting quite a cool second half overall with the azores high languishing far to the SW, and consequently trough action in a predominantly NW airstream.

 

Sunshine levels a little above average.

 

Rainfall - very variable, some places could see quite high rainfall totals, most places a bit above average.

 

Overall not a bad summer month, but set against the July we have endured it will feel much less inspiring.

While its heartening to see how positive everyone is so far, after a warm first couple of days I think its all down hill from there, to finish right on the 61-90 and 20C average.

Hopefully the heat will be less polarised towards the SE. Max of 90F in Suffolk, less than 80F here.

Looks like the CET could be over 20C by the 6th, according to the 06z GFS operational.

If that's the case, then the rest of the month would have to average 15.5C in order to reach to 81-10 mean of 16.4C.
