Wow, in the last 10 minutes or so the wind has suddenly really got up in here - West Ireland - all me chickens have gone in to roost and dogs are under the kitchen table....

It's the most interesting thing we've witnessed this week haha! Hence the pics! :-)

Too true lol. Got a feeling we'll see some heavy showers breaking out in an area Chester-Liverpool-Manchester this afternoon. I may be too far S.

Yeah, little cell just popped up at the mouth of the Dee Estuary on the Wirral.

Oh yes just seen that. Exactly where I thought things would initiate.

That's good to hear and I agree. Which direction will cells be traveling in today?

I really like the look of tonight for here. We can do well often out of those set ups. A bit of CAPE around this afternoon as well.

Looks like a nothingness day here today. Just wondering when the next big risk is for just a day of bog standard storms? Saturday seems to be slipping away already from what looked like a great opportunity for severe activity :(

Case of watching things develop further out west, Irish Sea etc - another night on radar patrol lol - see how the area of precip expands and intensifies before letting rip :)

May throw up a few surprises for some, wouldn't say severe storms, more likely flashes and rumbles possible in heavier bursts.

Good luck all.

Tonight looks better on the 06z GFS and the 06z NMM

Decent levels of shear and vorticity and a jet streak

Some intense rain, looks to be mainly convective at first but then less so, so Cornwall/Devon, SW-S Wales probably most likely for something thundery

I'll take that after the disappointment we've had recently, and this will be the first rain since the 4th of July !

Same here I think, masses of insolation, and very strong insoltion here as well. It also feels hotter and more thundery than it has all week ironicly.

Updated warning's from the met-office.

Met Office: UK: severe weather warnings

Joy. Just when I won't be in Surrey.

At this range, I think these warnings will probably be fairly conservative, as is often the case. They do show they're taking the threat to actual, y'know, land (as opposed to just the Channel) quite seriously, though!

Nothing for the south west on the Met office warning page, a bit surprised by that.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
