Despite the temperatures, it has felt thoroughly autumnal

Really? it has felt far from it here today, very warm this afternoon.

do not go further than this as anything after is unreliable

Just to make you all feel nice and cool

I'm reliably informed it maxed out at 39 deg c here today - I think I was unconscious under a parasol at the time -all I know is I had to drink my cocktails quick before the ice melted !

Hope everyone is ok :-)

Evening all. It's been a dull breezy and sticky day here today. As soon as I went out for my run tonight around 6.30, the clouds broke and had bright sunshine. Still have perfectly clear skies here now. I'm hoping for a cooler night, but after seeing the BBC weather forecast looks like another sticky one. Might have to kick Mrs LeighD into the spare room tonight, so I can have the windows open..... I know what the reply will be though 'sleep in the garden, if you want fresh air' ha. Good evening all...

John, you maybe correct as the met office six day onwards seems to have moved back slightly from the effects of high pressure spreading up the country today

hi chris

at present i am not sure after 144 so i am being cautious

got a feeling the jet may cause a problem but best option is follow the fax charts to see where it goes

i am away in brandon again on the 24th so i would like it to be nice

time will tell on this

Sounds like your having a great time.... Enjoy, but drinking cocktails too quickly only ends in one thing 😵 well for me anyway 😄 Edited by LeighD

I can't compete with those temperatures here alhough after some early rain it has been a reasonable day.

Have a great holiday only another 16 days before the start of autumnPosted Image

It was certainly a bit drier - at least here - than the 93% for the CET average, I would have thought. I'd also imagine that the mean temp was pulled down by some quite cool overnight lows - down to 8.5c the night before last here, and quite a few 10s and 11s in the first half of the month, such that the 24-25c highs were only generating a 16-17c average. Just guessing, mind...

Hi everybodies,

Well despite a lot of cloud it has been a very warm and humid day today. Seems to be cooling off comfortably now though

Hi Jan - Yes I was conscious of that as I sat under my shady eaves this eveningPosted Image

fax charts for monday and tuesday

Posted Image

monday

a weak west to north west flow

dry and should be sunny

temps around 24-25

Posted Image

tuesday

a weak westerly flow

should stay dry although maybe a tad more cloud

temps around 24-25 again

watch the lows to our west and south west as they will confuse things

lets see what tomorrow brings

goodnight all Posted Image

Is Philip's anomaly data year-on-year or against some average of CET? I think the CET data from the MetO which you can download seem to be an all time anomaly from a few centuries back....

Edit...night JP.

Morning all. Strewth this weather is doing nothing to lift my mood, slate grey skies and quite a breeze making it feel nothing like August. Suprisingly though it is very mild, and the overnight temperature didn't fall below 16.8c at Heathrow.

Have a good POETS day folks.Posted Image

Morning Martin, morning all.

Grey sky here too but no rain so far, although that doesn't look like it will stay that way through the whole day:

At least it seems to be holding off down here until later this afternoon:
