Tragic situation across Colorado where torrential rains have lead to mass flooding from around Fort Collins into the Boulder, Denver and Colorado Springs areas. Sadly, 3 fatalities have been reported....

Staggering rainfall totals along the US 36, US 85 and I-25 corridors in northern Colorado leading into the Denver area where rainfall totals range anywhere from 4-12"+

This is why when water covers the road you do not drive into it! Pictured is Highway 7 which has been completely washed out from the South St. Vrain River about 12 miles west of Lyons, Colorado.

It's amazing how different the news coverage is in different countries. This June we had our worst flooding ever in town, a town of 12,000 people. We had 300mm in 3 days, our town was completely cut off from the outside world for 3 days as all highways had washed away in section from floods, mudslides and landslides, 200 homes lost and many more evacuated. The army took control of the town and gave us supplies as we had no water.  I don't think it made the news.

I know first hand what they are going through and wish them all the luck with the weather and hope the government step in fast to help with repairs and relocation and recovery.
