Morning all. :)

Clouding over and chilly here. I'm looking forward to the end of this last bout of rain. Then we'll have a few days relief at least.

I noticed Tamara's post about Jan and noticed she hasn't posted for more than a couple of weeks. Is there any way we can find out if she's okay?

The rain looks like it's turned up again in Benny Hill, a little earlier than expected. Thank goodness it's tempered by the thought that today will be the last rubbish one for a short while in our region....

No rain in Harefield yet but it looks like it's not far away now - very grey, quite breezy.

Off to Brighton tomorrow evening for the weekend, couldn't have timed it better by the look of the forecast!

I hope that I have timed it right as well. Going via the TOD to Wells Next the Sea, late Friday pm and returning home late afternoon Monday.

Is the temperature expected to be a lot lower on the North Norfolk Coast?

It is interesting when you look at the map of the UK to see that Wells is further north than Birmingham.

Kind Regards

Dave

Looks like a fine afternoon there on Friday with temperatures upto 15-17c. Saturday dry but cloudy damn north sea coasts, but with 15c-16c. Sunday looks warm with sunshine upto 20-21c!  Enjoy your break !

GFS has it pretty consistent for the bulk of the SE and EA:

OK, first conker of the season for me and I reckon it could be a sixer:

No soaking in vinegar or baking, who's up for the NW conker championship?

I used to love conker matches in the school playground.  That time of year, the playground would be littered with crushed conkers.

Funny thing is, to this day, I still get that little thrill of excitment I used to get as a child when I see my first conker of the year on the ground.  Think a trip to Greenwich Park is in order soon!

Hello all you lovelies! I'm back from my holiday. All I can say is it was like arriving into the Baltic in the middle of winter last night at Luton! Brrrr it was a bone chilling 6c from the 27.5c I left behind at Ibiza Airport.

I did manage to see a few fantastic storms out there and got a few pictures for good measure Posted Image On Wednesday the 11th September, I was in a restaurant tucking into my carbonara whilst watching a fantastic brewing storm with some cracking bolts of lightning, then out of nowhere, it was like a hurricane had blown up with winds of probably close to 70MPH and rain like I'd never seen before! The rain even seeped through the roof and got this poor fella wet through in the middle of his meal! bless him! A great stay and will try to get some pics up as soon as I can.

Me too, hence me picking it up and bring it back in my pocket :good: Looks like I have my first opponent!

Rain is really lashing down now with quite a stiff breeze, I hope it blows itself out in the next few hours and the warm dry spell kicks off.

Just driven down the A12 in heavy rain and spray. Lovely!Posted Image

I thought I'd come up with a mnemonic for today's weather and have decided that today is a FAD. I won't elaborate, as the first word begins with 'F', so wouldn't be suitable for publication, even if I could overcome the filter.Posted Image

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
