Its not nice in Newhall. Lots of cloud and lots of showers some quite heavy but thank goodness they are only very short bursts. Looking back at last July's figures this year as started off just the same as last year cold and showery in fact this year is a little bit drier.

This corner of north-east England usually tends to miss the sun and the showers- except if the showers are travelling NNW-SSE.

In today's case they are, and there have been some incredible torrential storms, there was also a thunderstorm at 3pm.

Not much sunshine, but certainly a lot of convective excitement.

After a bright morning and an absolutely disgusting pm with showers coming along one after the other and the wind gusting to 30mph we now have gentle winds, clear skies and a terrific sunset - sky is all shades of red and purple over the sea. If only the days were as good as the nights! :evilbat:

Quite an intense rain shower here at present, heavy precipation. The radar picks up a nice cluster of showers affecting northern parts of North West England, with Red echo's so someone, somewhere is getting thunder surely , but not here.
