When do you expect the first snow TM, or indeed the first lying snow at your elevated height?

Over the last 36 years, John, the average date for the first sleet or snow falling here is November 7th and the average date for the first lying snow is December 1st.There is a very wide variation though. The earliest date for falling sleet or snow is October 3rd in 1994 and the latest is December 4th in 1995 and 2011.The earliest date for lying snow is October 30th in 2000 and the latest is January 21st 1988; only one other year has failed to have lying snow before December 31st and that was 2006/07 when the first lying snow was on January 7th 2007.
