yes a big thank you to Julian and everyone that has contributed to this thread. Just 271 days before the 2015 Lauberhorn although I get a small mountain 'fix' in July on my walking visit to the same area.

Thanks for the nice comments - it really it is appreciated. Thanks also for the regular contributions throughout the season especially from Blessed Weather, John and Carinthian in no particular order.

Although at times, I do get a little jealous of the wonderful snow conditions.

So this week, I'll start by doing another look at snow depths at various resorts.

Latest Snow Conditions for this ski season.		    Upper Lower Last 7   Piste  	  OffResort Name piste piste  Last snowed   days Quality      Piste Lifts OpenAlpe d'Huez 200cm  60cm 08 Apr (10cm)  10cm  Spring Sn Varied 27 out of 32Tignes	  200cm  60cm 08 Apr (06cm) 6cm  	 Good   Limited 75 out of 79Wengen	   80cm   0cm 24 Mar (25cm) 0cm  Spring Sn Spring Sn 13 out of 19St Moritz 140cm  20cm 05 Apr (05cm) 0cm  	 Good   Limited 18 out of 58Mayrhofen    35cm   0cm 09 Apr (05cm)   5cm  Spring Sn Varied 22 out of 25Cervinia 295cm  35cm 04 Apr (01cm) 0cm  	 Good    Varied 14 out of 14

All resorts have seen a little fresh snow over the past week, and on piste conditions at all resorts are good or excellent. Although lower piste depths continue to drop.

Thanks for all the reports Julian. I know quite a lot of visitors do look at this particular site topic prior to coming out. Yes, the season draws to and end. Funny enough, snowing again today. Has been a vintage season in Katschberg with the most snowfall seen since 1978. The amount of snow has just blown me away and all this during one of the mildest snow free winters ever in Europe.

Skis put away now. Soon be time for a visit back to blighty, watch some cricket and drink some real ale, Doom Bar !

Thanks for that Carinthian.

So close to the end of the season, I'll just do a quick look ahead, as opposed to a full forecsat.

Rather unsettled for the most part, with a trough always close to the Alps as borne out by the rainfall (Precipitation) chart below.

Never particularly cold, with Freezing levels always above 2000m by day, and for the most part overnight as well.

So the day by day Freezing Levels are

Sunday 1900m (East) - 2400m (West) post-213-0-65061300-1398008844_thumb.png

Monday 2300m - 2400m (Generally) post-213-0-66831400-1398008838_thumb.png

Tuesday 2500m - 2700m (Generally) post-213-0-09059400-1398008828_thumb.png

Wednesday 2750m-2950m (Generally)

Thursday 2800m-2950m(Generally)

Friday 1800m (Far West) -2800m (East Austria) - colder weather trying to edge in from West, high degree of uncertainty about this.

However, despite the very mild weather, not quite reaching the 3000-4000m Freezing Level which is more than possible at this time of year, but you really need to be on the higher slopes between now and the end of the season.
