Stunning piece of research. Still it does raise the question do we all have a favourite position in front of the urinal and chosen trajectories?

Men should sit down to urinate or, when using aa urinal, stand slightly to one side as close to it as possible and aim downwards, say scientists who have studied the best ways to avoid “splashback†and its unhygienic effects. Todd Truscott and Randy Young Brigham Young University found that the largest amount of splashback is caused by aiming at the urinal wall and at a 90-degree angle or directly into the toilet.

When I was about 10 years of age, the school toilets were uncovered and the boys and the girls areas were separated by a brick wall. Our aim was to try and pee over this wall into the girl's part although we never did manage it - we were right little so and so's full of devilment in those days.Posted Image

Now in my much older more splattering days it probably is better to sit down at home but it is so much easier to use the traditional method. I must try to remember.Posted Image

When I had the problem with a fistula attaching my bowel to my bladder splasback wasn't a problem. More how to avoid dribble down the trouser leg. Splasback is imversely proportional to ageing. Sitting down becomes a necessity. Alls well now though and I can splash again. Cue for a song, let's splash again, like we did last summer. Sorry Chubby. Posted Image
