At +0.24C, 2013 is the 4th warmest year on record, behind 2005 (+0.26), 2010 (+0.40) and 1998 (+0.42), according to the UAH data.

It also appears to be the warmest ENSO neutral year on record.

So over this 'hiatus' we've seen record high Nina years and Neutral years????

When folk wonder at the paper claiming PDO is now impacted by background warming ( since the 80's) maybe they ought to reflect upon the way this PDO-ve is allowing us such heated 'cool' phases to occur within this 'hiatus'?

Bump!

Seeing as 2014 has riled the faux sceptics/deniers I thought it best to remind them of last year and their first attempts to deny the temperature record databases.

Where do we go if we deny the data? Are they really wanting a world where all measures are subjective ( i.e " it feels cold today Bill?", "yup Fred , we must be cooling.......").......... I suppose that would suit some ( esp. east coast USA where the erent Jet has been feeding 'Arctic plunges').

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
