12z GFS showing risk of snow falling across the sarf east tomorrow night, as a cold trough moves SE.

Dew point of 0C and below, 850-1000mb thickness of below 1290 dm and wet bulb of 2C and below normally required for falling snow and this is met tomorrow midnight:

Snow risk charts early Thurs morning for what they're worth:

Think with height (over 150m) will be best for setling, though wet snow not ruled out any elevation based on these charts. Of course conditions may become less favourable nearer the event.

    Evening all

Well today was a bit of a shock to the system, when I walked out this morning to take the children to school.

After debating (me telling) my 4 year old son for 20 mins that he needs to wear his hat and scarf to school, I think the penny finally dropped when we left home! He still managed to have the last word though... As he was walking into his class, where I can't go he said 'I'm not wearing this at play and lunch time' the little so and so 👹

Been spoilt today with lovely clear skies, and a bright sun, which was quite misleading from the office window. When I went out for the lunch, that wind was biting, so instead of my ham salad roll, I nipped to the chip shop for some warm comfort food 😇.

Current temp 5c and a windchill of 2c.

Off out for a run in a bit to burn off those scrummy chips....

No frost last night with a low of 1.4C. Struggled up to 4.7C during the beautifully sunny late autumn day, now back down to 1.9C. Woodburner on..heating is still off (!). As we try to stop the cats going into the bedrooms where they make themselves far too comfortable on the duvets, the doors are closed. Our bedroom currently at 9C. So it won't just be the cold shoulder I get tonight then.

When I do that to my cat, he just sits there attacking the carpet beneath the door trying to get in, ruining it!

Not quite sure why our's didn't. They take it out on the bottom stair carpet where it meets the wood floor. It is quite a bit warmer on the landing or downstairs though, even with no heating and the woodburner about 30ft from my office where I am now, it's 21C in here, and you know what cats are like with heat !

I like a cold bedroom to sleep in. Just don't like getting out of bed and into the shower, as the towel rail / heating in there is powered by the boiler

    Evening all

+2.2c in Reigate.  Dew point in negative territory, currently -1.2c

Just got in and have to go out again shortly - eldest's GCSE presentation evening. Will be pretty chilly by the time we get back

I see some possibilities are emerging for a bit of wet snow tomorrow night - could mean 2 good reasons to stay up:  snow and live test cricket!

Nice seasonal weather on the way after we get rid of the yuck cold and wet of the next day or so....though some of us may see a few flakes! Not here, usually the last place to get snow. Looking forward to sunny days and foggy/frosty night, lovely. Oh and these have appeared in Sainsburys....yum!

    SNOW DEPTH CUP

Just popping this up again. Those of you that have entered today are in the updated list below.

If any of you havnt entered yet and would like to, just drop a post in here or pm me. Anybody that hasnt entered yet will need to get their entry in by 10.00 p.m Friday 21st November, to give Chris time to enter all participating members on to spreadsheets.

Have been in contact with Chris and owing to the number of entries, thinking of changing the format, as follows:

North Thames region comprising of Groups 1,2,3 & 4, split alphabetically.

South Thames region comprising of Groups 1,2,3 & 4 split alphabetically.

Top 2 from each group going forward to form 2 Groups of 8, as follows:

    Group A: N.Thames. Gr.1 1st & 2nd, Gr.2 1st & 2nd. S.Thames Gr.3 1st & 2nd, Gr.4 1st & 2nd.

    Group B: S.Thames. Gr.1 1st & 2nd, Gr.2 1st & 2nd. N.Thames Gr.3 1st & 2nd, Gr.4 1st & 2nd.

Grand Final : Winner Group A v. Winner  Group B.

I actually think that will keep members interest in the competition going much longer and mix up the region to give more variety and friendly rivalry, in the Knockout Phase, without risking prolonging the tournament for too long with diminishing snow chances being too much of a problem. He says hopefully! Posted Image

0.6C outside and 9.1C in the bedroom. 19.5C down here. Going up to bed will be a Scott of the Antarctic moment, though I believe it was his underling, Capt Oates who sacrificed himself by walking out of the tent, saying 'I may be some time'.

I went camping in Cromer in September (with a friend, as the family are a bit 4* with their holidays), with several lovely late summer days to be enjoyed. The night before our last full day, having enjoyed the deserted sandy beaches of north Norfolk and the hospitality of any pub which served Wherry, we were treated to a splendid storm. The £70 tent held up in the ensuing maelstrom, as we watched fellow campers retreat into their high-rise tents with built-in jacuzzis. Most of our clothing remained dry, apart from what we were wearing and anything which wasn't in a rucksack rated for Category 5 hurricanes.

    Left early.
