Very chilly out there this morning with the wind making it feel more so. Had to scrape the car and then it started raining...Damp in town this morning and pretty miserable.

I feel like doing what Mr Pegg has suggested below until the snow arrives....

Storm forecast out from Nick F and interesting thoughts of a potential squall line forming along the front coming across us early this afternoon:

Issued 2013-11-20 08:15:05

Valid: 20/11/2013 0800 to 21/11/2013 0600

THERE IS A RISK OF THUNDERSTORMS FORECAST

Synopsis
Deep long-wave upper trough lies across much of Europe and the eastern side of Britain, while a ridge extends north over the N Atlantic. A surface depression NE of Scotland at 0800z will continue SSE across the North Sea today, associated cold front will surge south across England and Wales, clearing S England early afternoon.

... ENGLAND and WALES ...

Cold front, currently across N England and N Wales, will continue to surge south this morning, clearing the south coast of England early this afternoon. A strong jet aloft and veering wind profiles towards the surface (creating strong deep-layer shear) will mean a squall line is likely to form along the cold front, as forced ascent of the 'warm' sector occurs. Strong convective wind gusts, brief intense rainfall, sporadic lightning and small hail are likely with passage of the squall line. Also, given strong veering of winds at the surface, an isolated tornado can't be ruled out. But main risks will be strong wind gusts and intense rainfall with risk of localised flooding.

Steady rain in Chislehurst at the moment, looking miserable but at least its cold! Posted Image

Lets hope we some synoptics like the following for the Snow Depth Cup, otherwise Chris M's spreadsheets are going to look pretty forlorn.

Was suppose be doing scrub clearance as a volunteer for National Trust today. Don't mind it being damp but none too keen on getting saturated. Bit difficult getting a bonfire going, which is the best part.

Look at the squall line developing to the North-West of us!!!!

Some intense rainfall, hail, lightning and also a risk of isolated tornadoes..

May by it will give us some back edge snow for good measure??

I cant see the rain coming down, but I can here it on my rubbish bags outside, weird Posted Image

Funny you should say that Jo, I had the same here several times this morning. I could definately hear raindrops hitting some plastic sheeting in my garden, but absolutely nothing to be seen. I can't even put it down to any wind rustling the plastic because there wasn't even a breath of wind.

It is raining now though, very fine rain but visible. 2.8c currently

Couple weeks back for firework's night, we proved you can burn even saturated wood with enough petrol/diesel :)

The train is seriously struggling for grip trying to pull away at Shenfield at the moment.

Yes! The journey from Romford to Stratford was a bit of a nightmare on the train this morning!

Urggh, rather you than me Mick - I hate mingling with tourists and Westminster Bridge is full of 'em!

Current temp here at Lowestoft is a barmy 1.6...

Keep an eye on the squall line heading our way, and then the intense showers which will hit about early evening..

The squall line will hit us about midday

There will be a few showers around this afternoon, the intense heavy and wintry will come later

Naughty naughty weather getting my hopes up with the lovely frosty walk with the dog yesterday evening, and hints of sparkly white on the rooftops as I looked outside in the dark this morning; then as I merrily walked out the door saying I'd get a move on with clearing the frost off the windscreen, horribly cold rain and grey skies greeted me. Yuk. I do hope that Frosty's prognosis in the MOD of possible cold zonal after this cold spell does not come to fruition.

Have a lovely day everyone.
