The chance is there for some snow over the christmas period with some polar maritime thrown into the mix.

I must say though as it stands i think you are going to need to be 300m plus altitude and even here any lying sown will be transient in nature.

Most of us will need to see upgrades in the coming days but you never know.

Went for a walk with the dog at lunchtime and the cars that hadn't been moved and were in the shade still had frost on there roofs

GFS 12Z downgrades any snow. Annoying. More runs to come though.,

They will chop and change for now will have a better idea by the weekend what we will have for Christmas day

Just a mile or so up the road from me they are trying to assemble a set of huge turbines for yet another new wind farm.

I say trying because they started on the first one about 3 weeks ago and still haven't got any of the blades on yet, partly it least due to the constant high winds.

Who'd have thought it, high winds 400m up in the Pennines.

It may turn out to be a suitable location for a wind farm sometime in the future.

ARRGH she's done it again.

Eno blooming Equator on NW Tonight just said "At least it will be mild" and then skipped over the sight of a few snow flakes on Thursday like they didn't exist.

Obviously Di Oxberry left her copy of How to be a patronising weather presenter to Eno when she went on to bigger and better things.

As I said last night ECM was just a tease with reference to a  white Christmas and the GFS well that's just the GFS LOL

 

That said still 7 days to go to Christmas and I expect the models to flip flop around in the next few days

 

all is not lost and IMO still to early to call Christmas day

 

I Think will have a fair idea come Saturday
