Looks pretty mobile, we do get a northerly toppler for Christmas day

Showers present, uppers sufficient, might get a white Christmas from this run Posted Image

    Precipitation - (+1)

    Temperature - (-1)

Pretty standard westerly conditions, wetter but cooler than average with the big day into Boxing day being the coldest with a window for snow showers.

Had some odd weather in the Chilterns recently...outbreaks of rain when absolutely none showed up in any forecast....Is there such thing as micro-climates?  Most vexing for people like me who need to make decisions regarding our animals depending on the weather...and what has happened to the Daily Fail and Daily Excess's Snowmaggedon? Evening each. Had a lovely walk along the coast in Felixstowe today. It was bracing and the sun did keep peeping through the dark clouds. But it was a smashing and interesting walk with a mystery. Right out on the horizon there is a large structure roughly north (to the left lol) of the 'Sealand' platform thingy. It looks huge and I don't think its a rig or container ship. Anyone know what I'm on about?

Anyway...hope you like the photos and hope everyone is well. :)

i am trying to make bread rolls, its more difficult than it looks on tv.

I've recently bought a breadmaker, which should be really easy to use. Today, however, I forgot to put the kneading paddle in, so ended up baking a pretty solid lump, covered with slightly burnt flour, although it still smelt okay. Posted Image What a berk! Posted Image

What have you done wrong JJ1?

outside is nice and crusty and seems right, tastes good, but inside is too raw and doughy and heavy.I'm thinking more air needs to be in it so probably didn't knead it or it didn't rise properly.

i left it rising in a warm place for 6 hours.

Well, they make a decent loaf very easily (almost astonishingly easy and the machine is very quiet too) and cleaning up mess is negligible. Posted Image I have a Panasonic 2501 model. Apart from this morning's fiasco, the bread has been consistently good.

This morning's brick, which is now in the bin obviously, wasn't even meant for me, so I had to produce another loaf, which I baked by this evening. I'm now doing one for myself, so the machine has been busy today!

fresh yeast or Dried? I've always had a problem with dried. fresh is messier but more fun and gets a better rise.

If you have a split oven, leave them to rise in the top oven while the bottom oven is set to about 15th then whack the temperature up just before they go in.

To make this weather related, looks like we'll need to bake our own if some of those charts verify

I used to make my own, tried a bread machine and went back to making it from scratch

looking forward to Jp'S charts tonight, wonder what his ramp will be Like?

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average. Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
