You do kinda wonder what would follow on from GFS 384 chart. Some very nice eye candy to see but yes I agree with you John looks less snowy on the pub run, still plenty of time for upgrades!

Hi JP. Not so sure about cold westerlies to be honest, I always thought the Atlantic driven systems tend to deliver more in the way of wet and windy, but milder weather ?  Posted Image

hi blue

snowy asked what zonal was

its normally weather driven in from the west or poss a south west

the mod thread that were talking about zonal was from a westerly

i think Posted ImagePosted Image

although i must admit i have lost track of the mad thread recently

but you are correct as well Posted ImagePosted Image

hi snowy the easiest way is this

westerly this time of year can be cool cold if it is sourced via a northerly area

south westerly would normally pick up warmth from being from a warmer direction

both would normally be wet though

although i cannot see any weather from either of them locations at present

sorry if confusingPosted Image

hi snowy

its ok to ask

think i am brain dead with all them ramp charts Posted Image

when zonal is mentioned it is normally bad for us in winter

would normally mix up with warmer air and cause rain

however in mid winter if we can get an undercut that can be really good

that is a low pressure coming in under a block and giving us a good dollop

best to look out for the word undercut as i like that word Posted Image

some of the posts recently on the mad thread re zonal have confused me as

the charts showing at present have nothing like that in them.

stick in here snowy as although i ramp you will see me pick up trends via the ensembles

also when the fax get close they are normally more reliable than all the other runs

hope that helps

regards
