Cold start with a ground frost; clouded over gradually during the day and eventually became somewhat milder than forecasts were suggesting.  Maximum 8.7, minimum 0.9.  Wind light NW.

Starting to realise that we're experiencing a notable dry spell, particularly since October-December are on average the wettest months here, with only about 2mm registered at the Reading university site during the past three weeks (there was hardly more than a trace amount from yesterday's storm; it was just windy here) and not a great deal in the forecast.  I suspect many other areas have had a different experience, though.

A few light sleet showers before 1000 but after that it was dry with sunny intervals developing for a time during the late morning and early afternoon. Low cloud spread in again by mid-afternoon and was thick enough  to produce occasional light drizzle.

This morning's thin snow cover had completely gone by 1100.

Currently lightly snowing with a covering on some surfaces such as concrete. Very cold day with a max of 3c and the temperature is 1c currently and has risen from the early frost that set in so it'll turn to rain in a few hours :(
