Looking for Advice on an Inexpensive Weather Station

Recommended Posts

I live in the DFW metroplex, and I'm in need of a decent little weather station to put in my greenhouse.  Nothing fancy.  It only needs an accurate temperature gauge and good range (100' through brick and double-ply plastic siding).  Currently, we use a Davis Vantage Vue for external readings, and I couldn't be more pleased with this model.  However, when it comes to the greenhouse, we've had trouble with the range of our Ambient Weather Station (WS-1171A).  It advertises a 300' range for clear line of sight and 100' range for most applications.  That said, it will not pick up a signal at 80' through a single brick wall and the siding of our greenhouse.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If the greenhouse has any metal in the frames or windows along with any wooden doors or metal ties in brickwork then that may be the cause of loss of signal..
