Morning all. :)

I think (certainly for where I live) the most impressive thing might be the duration of strong winds - looks like at 15 hours of at least force 7 (near gale) winds, kicking off in about three hours.

I'd better get ready to leave on the A21 - the sooner I get to Guildford and back today the better..

Taker care Tams, and anyone else travelling today Posted Image

I dropped Mr P off for his early shift at 6am and was in Tesco's for 7am so that's the last food shop done - now for my last working day before we hit  Revs Bar tonight wearing our Chrimbo jumpers....seemed like a good idea when we arranged it with our friends but galoshes and sou'westers might have been a better idea - it will be fun waiting outside Xscape for a taxi home tonight, hopefully the roof won't blow off !!

Very blowy and grey here on the Sandbanks peninsula this morning; probably will give the beach walk a miss and head straight home to Surbiton. Last time we had to leave for St Jude's, this time it's for 'Dirk'.

Can't quite work out when over the next 18 hours I'll do my last Christmas shop given the weather conditions, might have to hold on for tomorrow afternoon if it doesn't clear through before then.

Morning all,

Shoreham beach weather station has recorded just over 50mph gust in the last hour.

Certainly gusty here at work (Brighton) and the wind is howling round the building. I'm right on top of a hill and south facing - not looking forward to later and hope to be out of here before it really gets going!

Wind picking up in Ipswich and some spots of rain. Just been clearing stuff up in the garden that may be a potential 'flying' hazards and getting the washing dry before we have to have door shut....otherwise it'll be rived orf its hinges. :D

Morning All,

Thank you to everyone that is giving the weather updates - much appreciated.

I have decided to leave work at 2pm today - South Eastern trains are already running a reduced service due to it being Christmas week - with a warning on their website regarding this afternoon and possible disruption to services.  I really do not want to be stuck up here in rush hour battling my journey home, especially as it's my last day at work till the 6th Jan!

Stay safe

SR

Are we expecting Central London to be in the firing line? Wondering if the football tonight will get the go ahead?

I think so, could be gusts to 60 mph possibly 70 mph overnight there.

Looking for Kent (at least) that there will be two waves.  Firstly the warm front at around 2-3pm and then the cold front at between midnight and 3am, with a slight lull in the middle - though that lull will still have gusts of 50mph so won't seem like it!

am keeping a close eye on the reports from you and ipswich area, it'll be up here before long.

Here its just very dark, i don't hear any wind or rain yet.

Just checked the news and saw that many are now without power in cornwall due to the weather, maybe i've been confused but i thought that was earlier than predicted even for that side of the country?
