Any chance of some Jan 1984 action in Jan 2014?

Joe B is banging on about a Jan 94 pattern in the US. Jan 94 was unremarkable over here.

Wind is getting really strong now and the pressure is dropping. Rain is chucking down, WS has decided to take a flakey so I don't know what the current temp is.

We had a windy & wet spell kind of mid-afternoon (yes muggins chose to get firewood in just at that point) but it's since calmed down again and there's been a mostly clear sky for a while.

I've warned tout le monde about wind and gusts and the end of the world and I'm starting to get itchy feet...

Just leaving Perth, everything looks ok for the drive at the moment, A9 still open. Inverness area holding on to some low temps atm, hopefully we won't see much of a rise and we'll get a nice Christmas blizzard, fingers crossed! Both re the journey over the next few hours and the sneachd in the sneck tomorrow!

Will be pouring over the charts when I get home!

Evening all, have just floated up the M74. Shocking day on the road, all 500 miles of it, but hame now and no going oot again.

Recorded 12c at the border around 8pm and think the car has wet rot now as well.

Outlaws made it doon A9 earlier, with a few hours stop at Drumochter for the plough to clear the road, so took in all 7 hours.

A balmy 8.2c here. Pressure 960.9mbs and a bit damp. No wind to speak of yet.
