A mild and cloudy night with moderate, occasionally heavy, rain during the mid to late evening and into the early hours. The rain eventually cleared to the east around 0400 and was followed by one or two light showers.

The S wind increased to gale force again yesterday evening, after a temporary decrease during the late afternoon and early evening, with a maximum gust of 61 mph at 2357 and several more in the high 50s; once the rain cleared the wind decreased to force 5-6.

Currently it's dry with sunny intervals and a few distant showers.

Incredibly windy overnight, we lost power for most of the night.  Town centre is closed due to power outage, and there are trees down everywhere.  Neighbour has had both his cars smashed by a fallen tree.  Heavy rain over the last 3 days has undermined tree roots, field are underwater, as are some villages such as Stedham.

I worry about the next front due at the weekend, as the infrastructure and dangerous trees will not be repaired by then, there will be more structural and transport problems I feel.

I'm in West Sussex.

Winds reached gale force around midnight for an hour or so, otherwise just a generally wet and windy day yesterday. Breezy with sunny spells today, giving me a chance to fix our fence. Currently partly cloudy, 7.3 deg C after an overnight low of 6.6.
