hour on hold before speaking to insurance company, assessor to come round from boxing day onwards... could do without anymore wind later this week as I dont want to lose the rest of the roof.  The driving rain penetrated the inside of the loft as well but only a few drips made it to the boards.  Worth checking out if you havent already,

A body has been discovered in a stream in Horton, Telford, Shropshire. West Mercia Police are treating the death as unexplained and a spokesman said it was not yet known whether or the not the death was related to the stormy weather conditions.

Yeah some bright echoes appearing in the channel heading our way. Apparently same again tomorrow with possible hail? So you never know, we could end up with a (temporary) white Chrimbo if it hails enough! Posted Image

Update on the inlaws place, the river Mole is receding thankfully, enough for them to manually open the gate so we can drive in now. I finish work at 1 we're then taking them a hot lunch as still no power!

Ha, how's this for insensitive on Christmas Eve?My exboyfriend whom I had lived with for many years died unexpectedly a couple of months ago.We had for many years a joint bank account which we kept even after we split, its been minding its own business at last count for around 23 years.

Bank sent me a letter this morning stating that (due to confirmation of his death by executors) the account would be shut and they needed my permission to do so.

On Christmas Eve.

Just reminds me he is no longer here and one more link to him will be going.

Afternoon all

Managed to get released from work a bit earlier Posted Image  just having a drink and unwind for half an hour then it is off to the shops for some very last minute bits that I have not been able to track down in the last few days (most common answer to when they are getting stock in was deliveries delayed due to weather)

Dry and bright here, bit breeze and feeling cool when it doth blow.

There could be another storm New Years Eve at least that's what I heard somewhere!

I’ve just got the last batch of mince pies in the oven and my work is done - really looking forward to a break  - while I’ve got a few minutes I just wanted to wish you all a beautiful and magical Christmas filled with fun and laughter...

Much love and happiness to you all, Ali x

Indeed, hope everyone enjoys a few days to celebrate time with their family and friends.

A number of us (friends) are looking to do our own dryathlon once the holiday is out of the way too, we all decided we need it, plus it saves a few quid (pub owner not so keen though).

Hope every one is having a better Christmas Eve than last night!Decided the only way to get through all I have to do today with only 2 hours sleep is to resort to alcohol!

Just got some peppermint bark to make and I am done until our Christmas Eve buffet! Time to put my feet up with a glass of chilled white I think.

Can't believe we are still having showers- some heavy ! It's a bit gusty here at the moment and the temperature is 8.1,

Have a great Christmas Eve everybody.

Yes.....hope you all have a lovely time today and, of course tomorrow. But I'll be around then as well.

Meanwhile, those of you who are travelling, take care and I hope your journey is a good and stress-free one....as much as it possibly can be on Xmas Eve.

:)
