81mm. Certainly not as wet as the England & Wales figure, but that's always the case. Nowhere near as wet as January 2008.

149.0 mm here up to 1800 today which makes in the 9th wettest January in the last 37 years. Next one up the list is 1994 with 151.1 mm, which tomorrow should easily see out of the way. Very unlikely to challenge 1995 though ( the wettest on record here ) with 207.3 mm.

Well passed the 100mm mark today Davis reckons 104mm so far. I think the actual amount is slightly ahead of that will find out tomorrow morning.

As the rain pours down this afternoon the total is quickly rising, currently on 206mm for the month. That is back to back 200mm plus months for the first time in my 10 years record in the area, and more astoundingly 3 of the past 4 months all exceeding 200mm (Oct 214mm, Dec 259mm, Jan 206mm and rising rapidly!)

Up to 349mm here. 350mm+ is inevitable, the last day of the month looks very wet so a second consecutive 400mm month is an outside chance though unlikely. Another well above average month either way (225mm the average).

Some of these rainfall totals from western areas are unimaginable. Here we had 491.0mm in the whole of 2013 and only 233mm in the final 6 months. I cant imagine 350mm in a month, the wettest ever here was June 2007 which saw 206.9mm.

I can't imagine how dry it is over there in the east having lived here all my life!

Jerusalem in the Middle East has an annual average of 554.1mm which is similar to or even wetter than parts of Eastern England, almost semi-arid. Despite our small island it's like a different world on western high ground to eastern low ground

Tell me about it! We had 491mm in all of 2013 too, while even a wet like year 2012 had around 860mm - I don't even want to think of 490mm falling in an entire month.

124mm has fallen here so far for January, which is actually about average here on the western side of the Pennines. This part of NE Manchester is just about in the white part so 100-125mm is the average.

Its been a wet January, but we've had wetter. The last very wet January was 2005. The winter so far has been very similar to the likes of 94/95 and 04/05 which were very wet throughout until the middle of February and often stormy with atlantic low after atlantic low.

The last 5 winters have been quite dry in the main, but with episodic very wet spells notably mid Jan - late Feb 11, mid Dec 12 - mid Jan 13 and mid Dec 11 - mid Jan 12. However, we have seen very dry periods as well, notably late Dec 08 - mid Jan 09 and first half of Feb 09, mid Jan - early March 10, Dec 10, early Feb 12 and early Dec 12.

A run of very topsy turvy winters rainfall wise, unlike the run of consistently wet ones between 97/98 and 07/08 bar the odd dry one in 02/03 and 05/06.

115mm plus here no where near a record but climbing the tables steadily. The present set-up indicates a wet Feb as well.
