    Damp start, then a day of sunny intervals and heavy showers, with some hail. Maximum 11.9, minimum 7.1. Wind moderate SW.

    Looks like the Thames near here has just reached its highest level from last winter's floods and could exceed the exceptional levels of January 2003.

    Mild, rather cloudy, windy and showery today, some heavy with hail. Very heavy to torrential shower around 1300 with a solitary but very close flash of lightning soon followed by a loud clap of thunder. A few sunny intervals. Fresh to strong SW wind, moderated late afternoon.
