After the usual grey start I have sunny skies Posted Image

Will it snow/won't it snow? Very difficult call I think. Lots of rain beforehand though Posted Image

Nothing there. The models, the forecasts, the feeling in my gut(!)

Nothing!

I know we always say things change but I am about ready to call it as a snowless winter and log off till spring when we start hunting sun!

I just can't see the Atlantic being defeated in the next 4/5 weeks and then we will be slipping into March and the chances of snow really are gone.

Same here - a bit chillier early next week, then the Polar Vortex re-energises the Jet and we're then back to massive amounts of rain through to goodness knows when.

Afternoon all

Just walked to buy Cup-A-Soup from the local Londis and it really is lovely.  So, of course, is the weather!

I dont care about the snow, just not expecting it to be honest.. i just look at earth cams of new york/chicago etc to get my kicks!! all i want is a decent summer like last year so hoping that all this rain and that bloody jet stream will go to our favor later on.

I work in a Junior School and we've just had 5 emails in a row in the space of an hour from company's telling us to get our supplies of Rock Salt in ASAP!!

Do they know something we don't? Posted Image

Or are they just trying to get rid of supplies they thought they would have got rid of by now? Posted Image Posted Image

Halfords have reduced their snow shovels to next to nothing so they don't expect snow then.

This reminds me of one year arriving at our West Wales holiday destination in August and seeing a huge banner over the local Tesco declaring 'All suncare products HALF PRICE!'  Sure enough, it rained for the entire fortnight.

Long live our noble rain

Send it to pour on us

Crappy and flooring us

Long to drain over us

God save our rain

Well, I've just been out and it's warm and sunny. It's more like late March than January. And the daffodils are HUGE. They'll be flowering in a minute. :)

If we are going to get snow, the weather will have to change very dramatically. But in this country, I guess owts possible. :O

Ian Ferguson has just stated that the GFS model is all over the place - however, the Met Office do expect a return to full zonality late next week after a brief colder period.

I agree, but did he not also say that" ukmo are sticking with the potential of a marked easterly phase being very much a possible outcome yet to be discounted, all to play for"

Fair dos - I was unsure whether this chattier thread would really benefit from lengthy, technical quotes which, if I'm honest, I struggled to understand in all its nuances.Posted ImagePosted Image
