A dry and clear start to last night with a ground frost. Cloud increased rapidly from late evening and there was a period of rain after midnight, briefly heavy, clearing by about 0600 and followed by one or two light showers.

Currently we have sunny intervals and an occasional light shower, each one accompanied by a rainbow.

Dry most of the day with sunny periods and a couple of light showers late afternoon. Maximum 11.7 (feeling colder than that), minimum 4.9. Wind moderate W.

Reports of an aurora visible as far south as Essex this evening but couldn't see it here when I looked.
