Amazing stuff, that extremely close one in the middle made me jump as I have the volume turned up for maximum effect.

Here, we haven't had one that good since 2001 (the best thunderstorm for many decades).. it's worth saying those storms like in your video are possibly once in a lifetime events for here (that's how bad it is).

Nice to see Manchester area taking a hit from a major thunderstorm though.

You might see something later on, and thanks!

Hi all, im not sure where to post this question but here goes.

Ive got a bridge cam and im on the hunt to capture some shots in the storm tonight. Is there a trick to getting a good shot? I don't have a tripod, but not sure what kind of settings I need to use to capture something good, any advise?

thanks

If you don't have a tripod, you need to position your camera on something so it's still really - wall, pile of books, car roof fence post etc...... I took mine with 6 second shutter, FStop (Aperture) at F11 and ISO at 100. I also set my Whitebalance to Auto, which stops everything coming out a bit orange. Zoom your lens out, make sure you're on manual focus and keep pressing the button until you get a good-un!

(This is for night lightning, I am totally useless with daytime lightning!)

I kind of cheated, I know, but this is a freeze-frame of a lightning bolt from my video.

Some great shots and videos here guys. Here's a few I got this evening. Wasn't at all as violent as the storms of yesterday but still pretty spectacular. Some very interesting clouds too. Think I may have got a wall cloud in some of them but not completely sure.

Hey guys. This is a short video shot in 240FPS of the lightning storm that hit the south coast last week. Not the best video ever but it still shows how amazingly pretty lighting is in slow motion

Here's the video of this afternoon's thundery shower in Manchester:

I almost wasn't going to bother posting this to be honest. It was generally a very mild thunderstorm but also very poor recording on my part, but thanks for watching anyway! :)
