Unbroken sunshine for the second day in a row! Currently a cool 10c in the shade and 18c in the suntrap of a back garden in direct sunlight.

I'm guessing this thread will last for months until the first cold of Winter come.

Coldest night of the winter here at -2.4c followed by a beautiful spring day and feeling nice and warm in the sun.

Given the right conditions I love this time of year although last year was certainly a shock to the system.

A cracking day, not a cloud in the sky and no wind. An early sharp frost as well. The air is exceptionally clear, not something you can always associate with high pressure, indeed if this was mid summer we would be enjoying very hazy skies. Such placed highs in spring are superb, if this was May then it would be simple heaven, best time of year for such a positioned high. Alas this weather is just the tonic after the wettest winter on record and a 3 month period with barely a 12 hour dry window.

The sky today was exceptionally blue. A great day today. Warm in the sunshine with a refreshing breeze. Lovely placed high, shame it won't be here past the weekend. Would love this type of weather to stick around until September!

Lovely cold start this morning with the second frost in a row! Nippy in the sunshine later on which was perfect.

I haven't even seen one cloud today - not even cirrus. A chilly start this morning followed by 14°C in the afternoon which felt warm in the sun. Lovely!

Same here, after the constant wind and rain since late last year the past few days have felt fantastic.

Just a shame that it's due to break somewhat at the weekend with temperatures falling back down to single figures.

Yeah, but in all honesty, I would rather the weather be crappier now than in the summer. I hate years when March and April are warm and sunny but then June, July and August are washout months with daytime maxima at 18°C and very little sunny weather.

Fully agree but I hope that if the weather does turn it doesn't include snow. Sorry but just endured the least snowy and frosty winter I can remember and don't want a sting in it's tail now that usable evenings are back.

Last spring was terrible for that.

A snowy spell wouldn't bother me, but I do just want the summer to arrive now. :)

I like snow as much as anyone but once I've felt a bit of warm sun and I'm driving home from work without lights on I suddenly get a dislike of winter so I'll call it quits now and wait for another of the Daily Express's worst winter for a million years to arrive next November.

Another air frost last night followed by another lovely pleasant day with blue skies, although it was hazier later in the afternoon with a milky sky. Temps have dropped like a stone once again and it looks like turning foggy quite soon. How often have we seen fog this season - barely at all.

Tomorrow won't be as good as the last 3 days, with fog and low cloud to start and probably much hazier skies before cloud invades later in the day. Indeed the general outlook for Cumbria is a cloudy few days with the threat of drizzle by Sunday accompanied by the return of windy conditions before we see much cooler unsettled weather next week. Hope everyone has made the most of the last 3 days.

As far as I know all Mersey ferries where cancelled this morning due to the bad visibility, according to local radio. It has been a beautiful day here, felt like spring at last, but it was chilly despite the hazy sunshine, not taken any notice of my weather station last few days, too busy, but did notice on my car that outside temp was showing 15c around lunchtime. I am on my day off tomorrow hoping to get out in the garden and do a bit of grafting

Enjoyed a good morning's stroll here in the Peaks, a few tens of meters just above the inversion layer led to some splending photo opportunities with the sun casting it's usual warmth and yellow-hue across the cloud deck.

Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now. Next weekend may see a more direct hit with the potential for southerly winds to draw some of that heat north and take temperatures into the mid or high-twenties. Read the full update here

Unusually warm September ending with some warm sunshine but also some rain

September will end up as another unusually warm month, and there will be some further warm, sunny spells to come as it draws to a close. Another bout of rain will be moving up from the southwest on Saturday, though. Read the full update here
