sunny with some patchy Sc around and an earlier ground frost with a low of 2.2C.

The cloud scapes yesterday afternoon were quite superb at times, towering Cu type 2 and lovely anvils as the Cb type 3' continued to grown into type 9.

A good deal of dry weather overnight but also a few light showers of sleet or rain, mostly since 0500.

Currently we have sunny intervals and the occasional brief light shower. There are still patches of hail lying in the grass from the shower yesterday evening.

Superb cloud scapes again.this time in the peak. Between Baslow and Sheffield around 1530 I counted 6 anvils and one I could not. I was under it with a mix of rain and 'so called' soft hail.

The Anvils that Johns talking about provided a showery end to the day with some hail and a massive temp drop within these showers. Otherwise a pleasant day with temps slightly below normal for the year until late afternoon.

Quite a dramatic day here today, with some quite spectacular cloud formations.  There were a few brief showers of rain/graupel and two hailstorms, one at 1:30pm and one at 5pm, and the second one produced one flash of lightning and clap of thunder.  In both cases the hailstones were between 4 and 8mm in diameter and produced a slight covering on the ground.  It got to 9.5C max following an overnight minimum of 1.7C, but the temperature fell from 7.9C to 4.5C during the 5pm hailstorm.

Quite the opposite to the day forecast here, with the majority of dry weather in the morning with long sunny spells. The afternoon has bought a scattering of slow moving mostly light nagging showers of rain and hail just enough to wet the washing and myself walking from the pub. Some impressive skies around dusk.Winds fresh NW with a high of 9c.
