Mild, damp & overcast here, od spots of rain. Wet on & off yesterday. Agree with NL, quite unlike the last two Mays so far.

Lightning plotted offshore to the E/SE of Aberdeen at the mo but not seen any flashes/heard any thunder. Airport is now forecasting thunderstorm & reports CBs at 6,000ft. Peterheid might get it!

Plenty of action up the east coast :)

Like u said NUT it has turned very humid, let's hope we get a decent storm this week but I doubt we will.

Quick question: where is 'Northern England' (where is starts) - Manchester northwards? Or say Lancaster or Penrith or is just including Cumbria and the far NE I.e Tyneside.

I better get on topic so it's a glorious morning here, warmest of the year looks likely with 22c forecast, might scrape 23...

Not entirely sure where the defining line is !

Beautiful start to today, clear skies and a bit if a cooling breeze, nice looking temp profile for this afternoon too.

Much cooler here today after highs of 21c and 19c over the weekend. Just 12c in a ENEly wind. Earlier haar has lifted to cloud.

Reached 21c by 12:30 but it has since clouded over with showers looking ominous to the south. Dissapointing...

I hope everything kicks off later as only boring spots of rain after a lovely warm morning.

Skies have filled and darkened rapidly here with more organised banding approaching from the South, fingers crossed we get some sparks !

No sparks here - just a decent convective shower, hills always dilute the energy in these cells from the South.

Wales on the other hand - outrageous !

Surreal sight of steam pouring up from the pavements and roads after that blast of rainfall.

Brilliant.

Might be wrong but looks like the hills are killing the showers as they approach us

Few cracks of thunder over the Pentland Hills about an hour or so ago when I was up on the bike. Another crack at home about 20mins ago with a very short lived downpour.

Some light rumbles of thunder here. Looks like a better storm is going to move in from the south Lorenzo?

Sat 24 is a good watch just now as everything looking very lively and cells popping up at short notice. The one approaching now is a little too far west for us I fear, went electrical over Biggar and is producing sferics.

Should hear it though..

Cheers, I'm a bit further west these days (just west of Bathgate). Rain has just came on but looks like the storm had died off a bit from the latest radar and not heard anything yet. Can't see anything either due to all the murk!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
