A little flooding in Cork this evening at high tide, partially due to all the rain here over the last 24 hours.

We missed the storms up here on the North coast yesterday hoping for some today they were in the forecast yesterday but have disappeared again.

I'm hoping for a decent winter I just bought some winter tyres for the new car in anticipation lol

Ahh, another winter approaches and the early signs are good..

 - easterly qbo

- High latitude blocking already evident with the Polar Vortex fragmented

- Northern hemispheric volcanic eruptions

- low solar activity even though we are at peak in cycle

Still all to play for, but I'm feeling confident we will get a couple of stonking snowy spells this Winter.

Whatever the reasons, I hope we get at least 1 decent snow spell.

Had plenty of days with sleet and snow falling last year, but never stuck for more than a few hours.

Yes and trying to hold off putting the heating on until the end of the month. We usually start putting it on during the second half of October - around the last week.

Still prefer if it was to getter colder rather then milder though, anyway i hope the upcoming milder spell wont last too long.

Kippure is working out in Canada,in Alberta for over the last 2 years. He comes back for a few weeks usually around xmas. He says he does get sick of the cold and snow over there during the winter. Temps getting down to below -30c etc. He much prefers irish cold lol.

Got up to 17.2C here today with plenty of sunshine. A weird kind of day i thought,it felt kind of summer like but was very blustery with plenty of leaves falling and blowing about in the wind. It was like summer and autumn rolled into one.

Last year in Cork, October had more rainfall than the previous 3 months combined (113%)

We're only 10mm away from achieving that again this October. The drought and deluge pattern continues!

That wind was quite something last night. Max gust of 54knots, strong enough, but nothing quite like last winter.

Max gust of only 44 knots here on the east coast. Still love a good storm!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
