Interesting...although the rainfall intensity seems to be decreasing a bit as time goes on. Whether it develops more again when it makes landfall I do not know..

The nearest rain is approaching me from the Peak District. Let's see if it can get down the hill without fizzling out.

Afternoon all

Well been thundery since 3.30 the odd flashes heavy rain etc not the most intense storm ive seen, and weirdly the storm has come when today has been a lot cooler (10oC cooler) the air must have been alot drier the last few days and as a result no convection.

So Bristol misses out on the fun today. But now, just as I am about to leave work, a heavy shower develops right over Bristol. Ha ha that is just brilliant! You really cant make this stuff up.

Cell suddenly popped up from nowhere near Worcester, just goes to show things are still ripe out there.

Amazing, picked my 3 year old up from nursery and drove to North Shrewsbury and a little hill to get a view over town and the storm heading our way actually produced. My lad siting on my knee we saw a CG clear as day before an epic rain storm hit!! He loved it too. And the thunder. Patience all week was worth it!!

Just got internet connection back on, what a storm that was it had a lot of energy. Got home from work and greeted by fire engines and police as a house a few down from mine was struck by lightning.

I just noticed on radar how it has suddenly popped up! Should be hitting me very shortly but will just have to wait and see if anything more than rain develops.

Really annoyed with myself today at the fact that i was thinking of heading for Sleaford and decided to stay put to see what developed here!

The radar says it all, bad decision from me!

It looks like the storms have finished with London for the day, it's been..............................average! Well actually a load of onions! Dodged most of the storms as usual!

No idea how you managed to miss them all Lassie, did you spend all afternoon in an underground bunker ?!  I had 4 separate storms within a 5-10 mile radius of me here in Northwood, including one which went right overhead. They were proper storms as well with blinding CG strikes and booming thunder.

Latest BBC News 24 weather forecast mentioned another area of developing showers affecting the SW, CS England and the South Midlands later this evening and overnight, all those folks complaining they haven't seen anything today, may be in luck tonight. Some rapid development around the Bristol Channel, so anything is still possible in the very unstable airmass.

Its almost like the missing piece of the jigsaw from earlier. But yeah, very rapid development.
