One of the most important historical meteorological books is without question Luke Howard's The Climate of London. Particularly if you have an interest in the coldest decade of the millenia 1810-20. I won't waffle on as there is an article on it in Weather from 2008 in the public domain. The reason I mention it is if anyone is interested Vol.1 can be downloaded from the web although I must admit I had some difficulty but made it in the end.
