We are very infantile in our global behaviours aren't we? Immediate gratification is all we seem capable of? Even the populations that did 'come to peace' with the notion of living sustainably in their environment ( once they'd slaughtered the mega fauna) were replaced by the more technologically advanced communities with their insatiable need for 'instant gratification.

Even today , though we know we are killing the very world we depend upon , there are those who demand their right to continue , B.A.U. , until we reach our demise (citing it as unpalatable to live any other way to that which they have become accustomed???).

As a species we need to grow up ( IMHO) and accept that some things cannot just be grabbed and trashed because we 'can'?

We need to sit and , think , think a lot, about just what serving our 'Need it now' Demon will cost us in the end.

Just bought a book (really must curtail this) by Ugo Bardi, Extracted: How the quest for mineral wealth is plundering the planet. Should be an interesting read.
