damianslaw The lack of light really kills me, but then again in this climate it's often dark even in spring/summer. Truly the pits for those who like clear skies and light.

Not quite into SAD period for me yet.  Sitting in a sheltered spot for lunch the sun felt warm and there is still enough light on a day like today.  So, if it’s OK today, it’s the same sun strength/height/day length end February.  So will be ok in 4 months time.  If it’s still OK into early November that cuts the dark period to 3 months….the mind games help me stay positive anyway!!!

Only 2 months until we start gaining those first few seconds of daylight 😂 And about 3 months until a more significant change becomes visible (almost an hour of extra daylight at my location)

For me I like the time around late August or the equivalent which is about mid April. Just enough light but doesn't get light too early in the morning and light levels are still good in the evening.....thank god I am taking vitamin D now. I stopped taking it a month or so back but because we've had such a crap summer I have noticed the deficiency symptoms start up again. After a week of taking a few tablets a day I'm feeling better. I love winter but I like the warm sun too and sensible sun exposure is so important for our health...when it actually decides to show itself in the lighter months!

Just 5 evenings before 'Dark Sunday'. The most psychologically affecting day of the year I believe.

Looks like a fine mid autumn morning; sunshine, dry and a slight breeze - may as well make the most of it, and get the bicycle out.

The clocks going back can be the start of the 'miserable season' - however, the trees are still full of leaves, and lots of colour this year. The time I dread is when the storms in mid November, and the trees are stripped.....then everything is bare.....

Start of the long evenings... thanks to cloud and light rain its going dark here now. Sunset is 16.45 but on cloudy afternoons dusk sets in earlier... we have to wait 3 months before we see a sunset after 16.45..

In less than 4 weeks we've lost 2 hours of light in the afternoon, 1 Oct sunset 18.45... it is a big big change..

Don't mind the clocks going back  personally, but each to their own.
