I have a question about 'thunder days'.Who exactly measures if thunder has been heard or not and does it have to be above a certain noise level?

Have had thunder and lightning from a cell passing within miles to my west. 7-8 rumbles and flashes in total. The cell seemed to intensify and has started weakening almost in situ. Fascinating to see and have caught some t&l on camera. Will post later if I get time.

We have thunder here, and it's pretty dark. The rain has stopped though.

That is something I've never seen before. Not sure how they can predict something like that though.

Unbelievable, sat at work & saw the radar on my break, heavy shower with lightning passing over my house, while nothing but light rain here at work.

That's twice that's happened in the last month.

Unbelievable I tell ya

Seems according to the radar that Wolverhampton have a storm at the moment.. 15:10 is this heading for Leicester? I have to walk to post office, 20 mins there, 20 mins back and probably 10 mins in post office.... So, will I make it back before the storm arrives, assuming it's heading my way????  eeeeek!!!

Thunder away to my east. First daytime storm we've had here all year. Nothing on the realtime lightning radar, weirdly.

A nice CB to my east, seems they're all avoiding here though... in a narrow gap of nothingness

Yep - bit of a storm shield around here today - bits of blackness around - and one distant rumble of thunder - nothing otherwise

19mm of rain in about 90 minutes just 5 miles to the west of here in Hull yet its bone dry at this location. One of these days the onshore breeze will bugger off and allow us to get in on the action aswell!

Have been watching a neat little cell move from approx Frome and just to the SW of Warminster, 6 or 7 flashes and rumbles and possibly a sister cell beginning to form at the rear. Very gusty wind as it's passing by and equally stormy looking over Salisbury Plain in the opposite direction.

Sandhutton (near Thirsk) has had a bit of a thunderstorm shield this year so far with the main storm activity always to the west and south, and today the thunderstorms are just too far south/west/east to be able to hear the thunder.  I don't have a personal storm shield as I picked up an unexpected thunderstorm in Dumfries on Sunday morning- it just seems to be here at the moment.

no rumbles from that cell for a while....may build again though

Gone dark in Blackburn. Had to abandon the sunbed and come in. Very breezy too. Looks like big rain is coming doubt there will be any thunders in it.
