decent thundery activity has been rare over the bulk of north west england lately, but when it does happen it seems to avoid the main land mass and go over the irish sea and just flirt with merseyside, happened last plume event, happened this plume event,   i thought storms preferred land to sea! whats going on?

and another moan, why why why are these thundery troughs moving up from the south ALWAYS timed to hit  the NW very early morning, just as the energy is dissipating,

the south coast always seems to get the timing right with the activity hitting in the evening

experts explain this please,  and it happens too often to be just bad timing, or the laws of statistics are getting defied

oh look,  it seem that situation is occurring again tonight,  i expect to get the dreggs of the souths storms at about 600am saturday morning, what a shock not

When it comes to storms which are imports from France, they're often most likely to develop during the afternoon or early evening there, so if they're headed north they'll more than likely take into the early hours to reach north England.

I'm beginning to think the weather has a personal vendetta against me.

Sod all here in the south of France (which is lovely obviously) while the UK and Hampshire (which never gets storms) is getting an absolute battering. I made it my mission to get a lightning photograph this year and after last night, every idiot on my Facebook with a camera phone has managed to get one:/ depressed doesn't cut it

Too bloddy hot, been to see the horses, geese and chickens this evening, but too humid to do anything constructive. Happily they are all fine which is important.

Expecting more TBH, although did have a mini storm just as i was going to bed, and then after that just a heavy rain shower. Woke up quite a few times in the night hoping to at least hear some stuff in the distance but nope.

Well this event was overhyped to say the least all ive seen here is a couple of distant lightning strikes and moderate rain......thurs eve was better.

Ive had better storms a few weeks back with the west to east sunshine and convective showers stuff. But well done to those of you that did get a decent show ;-).

I watch too many cells spilt above me, like yesterday morning, one storm became two either side of me...now the doomed bedford shield is stopping the cloud cover from going.  :nonono:
