MIT creates graphite ‘solar sponge’

In its straightforward form it could desalinate salt water by using natural sunlight but if the sun's rays were to be magnified by using parabolic mirrors then enough energy could be produced to make a mini power station.

Unfortunately at the moment there is likely to be a problem through the system getting 'scaled' up through normal  impurities in the water with continued use so more homework is needed to overcome this.

But what this does show is the value of thinking 'out of the box' and with a willingness to do this there could be many other methods of developing sustainable energy and there could be many exiting developments in the future.
