Lightning photography - green glow?

Hi, can somebody explain what is causing the green glowing clouds in the attached pictures?

I tried to take some photographs of a lightning at night (had no luck), later I noticed the green light, but it doesnt appear on every photo. It is best visible in these two:

 

 

Shutter speed was 30 sec for the first image and 15 sec for the second one.

Do you have a DNG file of them? If so, is the green appearing on those too?

Yes, it also appears in the raw files. Image #1 is 100% unedited, in #2 I only adjusted the brightness a bit.

Is the lens and sensor clean? Is the green only visible in these shots? Maybe the lights are reflecting off some dust/smudge on the lens.
