Jellyfish clouds

While out shopping with the wife yesterday, a swarm of Jellfish clouds above Dundee, sadly I only had my mobile............

a bit clearer in the negative........

Alto Cumulus with trailing Virga - "a shower in the sky"

I wish I had my camera with me a few days ago, last Wednesday to be exact  but down in the South of France we had a few cumulus, not necessarily that large, where the vertical extension was much higher than the size of the base and not only that the tops were about 30% to the rear of the bases with the direction from which the wind was coming, which was westerly  - I would hazard a guess at the base being about 5000 feet with the tops extending about 4000 feet above - there  were similar to lopsided columns.

 

I had hoped to go flying on this day but the instructor said that there was too much turbulence.

 

Obviously some good thermals about - a bit niffed that I couldn't fly.
