Oh dear! Not  a nice experience flying to Paris this afternoon. There was some sort of squall line around Manchester first off with visible forming anvils, and then it was just never ending turbulence which got really lumpy into Paris - poor me was almost reaching for the dreaded sick bag and had to sit outside for a while to feel anything like normal and un-pukey again! Mlllaaa...

Gorgeously warm here in Dijon BTW right now...get thee hence Atlantic!

Yellow warning out.

post-15177-0-19969100-1412764195_thumb.j

Valid from 18:00 on Wednesday until 09:00 on Thursday

Southwesterly winds will strengthen through Wednesday evening with gales expected overnight. Gusts are likely to reach 50 mph quite widely, with 60 mph gusts possible across exposed coasts and headlands, and also in association with squally, thundery showers. Winds will then moderate through Thursday morning. The public should be aware of the potential for some minor disruption.

Wareham quay was flooded last night and we're not at the peak of the tide heights yet, combined with low pressure and the winds, it could get interesting.

It has been relentless here (winds) 12 hours of 40mph gusts, doesn't sound alot, but it has been on par with a few days last Winter. I suspect trees are down in a few places too.

Could be tad breezy on Monday with strong E/NE winds and gusts into the 40's but other than that it's looking fairly quiet until later in the week.

When does a swiftly deepening Low become an Atlantic storm.

Todays weather has been foul, (Northants), there are reports of LOTS of trees down over Oxfordshire and the storm seems to be intensifying and stalling.

Lots of trees down? Not good! I didn't think it was going to be that strong today! Models were going for gusts of 30-40mph, Looking at XC weather it's gusting around 50mph near to the coast in the east.

Lots of leaves and Twig's on the lanes round here. The trees have had a good stripping with gusts in excess of 45mph.

Some very disturbed and stormy looking charts in the later stages of the GFS this evening, all in FI atm though.

Thought I would join in the awe of this catherine wheel of a system. Looks pretty comfortable out there owning most of the North Atlantic Basin..

Fax has it fading after the RACY period and tonight the GFS sees her take a leisurely stroll up towards Iceland.

When GFS does dartboards, it really does dartboards.

Good that this sort of system is here.

GFS is showing some very strong winds next Tuesday courtesy of what will be the remnants of hurricane Gonzalo. One to watch.

Hurricane Gonzalo passing through Bermuda, web cam link here, looks rather wet!

There are still a number of possibilities regarding the track of this hurricane but it does look likely to interact with the jetstream and affect the UK in some form or another. Will it be a major storm or just a case of the wet and windies?

Met office now have early warnings âš  in place for Tuesday, stating significant disruption is possible due to wind strength.

Looks like the first proper windstorm of the season.

Almost exactly a year after the first storm of last autumn!

It's only a couple of days off of a new moon too! Tides won't be at their highest but high enough to possibly cause some coastal flooding, particularly down the east coast as the low exits the UK.

Nice to see the MO early warning, they have been extremely good with their updates on storms over the last few years.

That was on BBC news this morning too (well the weather forecast anyway), certainly looks like a day of potential disruption for some.

East coast looks to be at threat if tides are high, which alarmingly they do look to be. One to watch that's for sure.

Winds look to have upgraded a little and the low seems a little further north also.
