Wretched Pollen !

For about the last two weeks now, everywhere and everything is literally covered in a lime green pollen ! Fences, path ways, even my neighbours cat comes home covered in it ! I've lived here for nearly 15 years now and never experienced anything like it. I've given up washing the car so I have to drive around in a car that looks like it should glow in the dark

 

Please can someone enlighten me as to what is going on ? ! And what tree it could be coming from ? If it's a tree ?

I can't think of anything that produces much pollen this late in the year, with the possible exception of ivy?
The relatively dry spell in England will mean it is more obvious when not washed away every other day.

Ahhh now that's interesting because we are completely swamped with Ivy round here. I had no idea they gave off pollen ? I still wonder why in all the years I have lived here that it hasn't happened before.
