My dad always asks for strange birthday pressies - this year, he would like a battery powered thermometer for the car that has an audible ice alert.  He can't have one with a charger as that's used up by the dashcam (last year's present).

He drives a taxi so it'll be useful as he heads out of town to know when the temp has dropped below freezing.

Has anyone else ever bought one of these or could you suggest one that's going to be reliable.

    Thank you.

    Jo

Have a look in Halfords they should have something that will be reasonably accurate.

Remember yo place away from the engine, before the days of inbuilt thermometers on cars I had the small sensor on the wing mirror with the unit inside the car linked by a wire.

These were the first readily available remote sensing electronic thermometers and meant for the first time you didn't have to go out in the rain to read a thermometer, they were great.
