    The temperature continued to rise in to the mild category last night with further showery rain last night before clearer and cooler conditions spread from the west after midnight. ground frost developing before dawn. Sunny spells so far this morning, ground frost melting. Sunny spells, showers developing, these turned moderate and briefly heavy through the afternoon turning to soft hail and sleet. Marked drop in temperature during showers.

    Showers of sleet and snow overnight, some of them quite heavy and giving a temporary covering of snow shortly after midnight.

    Today so far has been one of brief showers of sleet, ice pellets and snow pellets with sunny intervals between them.

    A surprisingly mild day with long spells of sunshine. Each of the three winter months have now received over 91hrs of sunshine, with this winter already the sunniest on record by 16hrs with 4 days still to go.
