In 373BC in the ancient Greek city of Helike, an unusual event was recorded. “All the mice and martens and snakes and centipedes and beetles left in a body,†wrote the Roman Claudius Aelianus. No one could explain it but then, “after the aforesaid creatures had departed, an earthquake occurred and Helike disappearedâ€.

From toads leaving their colony before the L’Aquila earthquake in Italy in 2009 to animals fleeing to higher ground in Sri Lanka before the 2004 tsunami, there are many examples of animals apparently being able to predict natural disasters.

Now for the first time scientists have been able to capture and document how the behaviour of wild animals changes prior to an earthquake – a development which may help with short-term seismic forecasting.

Animals can sense thunder too, dogs are very sensitive and can hear/sense before we can.

Animals can certainly use their senses unlike humans, who have the senses hidden but can`t use them.

We know very little really what frogs etc can really achieve and do,with their very high frequency sound, same as bats.
