Another day another Red River battle, sparse river crossings, HP Storms and 75f dewpoints with soupy skies, it can only mean 2015 Chase Season!

We targeted Wichita Falls to Lawton as a target and promptly flew into the Tornado Watch box around 2pm, out first storm was a HP Supercell and we intercepted it near Grandfield, Tornado obviously buried in the rain. Then repositioned east and took on the next down the line coming towards Ryan and Terrell. This was a Stunner, a Classic Supercell with Insane Cg lightning that nearly took all of us out, very good rotation on this storm and a brief Tornado near Terrell.

Great Bonus Chase Day for the Guests!

Wait until you see Toms video of the Lightning Strike! It is insane with a stepped leader as well

We sat on a bridge over the Red River and watched a cell with lots of rotation moving away to the north.  It did drop a tornado but wouldnt have seen it as it was embedded in the rain. A cell moving up from the south west looked interesting so we set off to intercept and meet up with Arron and Ashley.

This next bit is for young Sam

when I say get in the car I mean get in the car , lightning can strike without prior warning. Although when they are pounding the ground and getting closer to you, that is generally a sign that may, just may, need to get into the car.

We stayed over night in Decatur, Texas. A large tornadic storm was heading in  our direction. Although we saw no tornado or heard sirens going off it made for an interesting evening.

The storm raged on through the night with various warnings going off through the night.

Wow that close strike is exceptional! The stepped leader appears even closer to you than the resulting strike! I also think you can here interference on the audio immediately prior to it happening.

That strike was too close, for people to be out of the car for sure.

I can only warn people so much, I think warning people 5 times was warranted on my part.

And I told them that we WILL Have a Cg close to our ears about 5 minutes before the bears cage went over
